White Devil

The white devil is here….again. It came in the night. It always does. Under cover in the fog. Coward. Every year at the same time it comes to kill. It usually comes slow and then gradually grows to the fatal problem that it is. For me the slow process makes it even more agonizing. Like its taunting me ” I’m here”.. “I’m here again today and I’m bigger, I’ve killed more!”. And then one morning..cough..afternoon, I wake up and its over. The ground has transformed completely from the sweet sweet Dirt that has been there for me for the past 6 months, the Dirt that I had so many good times on this summer, the Dirt that I left my blood and sweat in, to the freezing, wet, slippery, sn..gag…sn…gag..sno..snow. It hurts me to say it. Winter is almost here. Its only touched my skin once so far this year and it was more freezing rain like than snow but it counts. Ohhh it counts. Not only does the white devil kill plants and animals every year but it also kills part of my soul. It takes away from me what I like to do most; ride my bike here in Whistler. Its ok, I got a couple of days in this summer but its never enough. I urge all of you reading this to send me things to make me happy such as money or more money. I would also like you to bow your heads in a moment of silence and pay your respects to another bike season killed by the terrible, cold, dark, and always returning winter.
R.I.P. 2007 Whistler bike season.
